I was heavily involved in the team who delivered an animated piece for Leeds City Council about their ’12 big ideas for the city’. I played a large part in the idea creation which we delivered in our pitch tender. We were successful from the tender due to our creative and visually engaging idea.
Leeds City Council wanted an animated piece which had a clear Call To Action for people, businesses and organisations to get involved with the campaign and make a pledge.
I started off by collating all the information that needed to be put into this video due to it being very specific in terms of the 12 Big Ideas. Once I had this, I wrote the basis of the script and with input from LCC, tweaked it so they were happy that everything had been included. The brief initially stated that the final video needed to be no more than 2 minutes long, however this wasn’t going to be feasible with the amount of content that was needed within the video, explaining this to LCC they were happy to compromise.
Once we had the finalised script I use this to create the storyboard; due to the tight time restrictions I created the assets straight into Illustrator rather than sketching this out first to ensure the animator had enough time to deliver the final video with time for amends. using the brand guideline and digital assets provided by LCC i ensure consistency with met with any additional items that I needed to create to tie in with the script.
The detailed storyboard was sent for approval, and I liaised heavily with LCC to ensure the amends they required were done. Once this was signed off I communicated with the animator to get the assets how I envisioned them in the final piece.
After a few amends and when LCC were happy, I sourced music to go with the piece; due to the length we needed to find upbeat music to keep the viewers interested. Tying the music and animation together created the final piece.
